Özet
FoMO has been researched in various disciplines over the years; related perspectives have been developed, in exploring the anxiety of being left behind the popular culture and addictive behaviors especially happening through social media and smart devices. Studies concerning the hot topics about the phenomenon possess the field but are insufficient. This study aims to emphasize the commercial impact of the phenomenon, also examines its impact on people's reading habits and approaches to popularity. Sabahattin Ali’s timeless work “Madonna in A Fur Coat” having a considerable mass in Türkiye, is discussed and sale rates are presented. It is obvious that the book is an element of popularity, creates a feeling of belonging to a crowd, and has an impulse to sympathize with popularity in the arts. The phenomenon is introduced, information about psychological background is given, its effects on society, people’s perspectives on the crowd, book sales are analyzed. The results are shared under relevant literature studies. It is observed that the presentation of books read on social media and the growth of visual-based social media tools have seriously led to the new prints of the book.
