<p>The increasing amount of data in all areas of life makes it imperative to analyze and interpret these data correctly. There is a need for competent individuals in the field of statistics in order to perform accurate statistical analyzes on the data and infer useful results. An essential part of the statistics education required for the training of these individuals is statistical package programs. In this study, the relationship between the usage level of statistical package programs and the academic success in teaching statistics is investigated. In addition to this relationship, it is observed how the academic success of the working group in teaching statistics varies according to a number of individual, socio-economic and educational factors. The study group consists of the senior students of the statistics departments of Selçuk, Karadeniz Technical, Afyon Kocatepe, Yıldız Technical and Fırat Universities. In order to obtain study data, a scale called “Statistical Package Programs Usage Level Scale” consisting of 4 sections and 55 questions is developed. SPSS and E-views statistical package programs are used in the analysis of the data obtained. Statistical analysis methods such as "Pearson and Spearman Correlation Coefficients", "One-Way Variance Analysis", "T Test", "Kolmogorov Simirnov Test", "Mann-Whitney U Test", "Kruskall Wallis Test", "Granger Causality Analysis" are used in the analysis process. As a result of the statistical analysis conducted, a strong positive relationship of 68.5% is determined between the level of use of statistical package programs and the academic success achieved in teaching statistics.</p>
