In this study, it was aimed to determine what words should be known in daily life areas of students at basic level in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. In the study, foreign students who studying at B1 and B2 levels at Uşak University TÖMER in the academic year of 2017-2018 took place. The study group consisted of 41 students (19 female and 22 male) at B1 (14 students) and B2 (27 students). A personal information form was used to obtain information about the students constituting the study group. Then, each student was applied total of 6 interview forms about 6 social life areas. It was studied 82 pages personal information form and 246 pages word detection interview forms. The personal datas and the words written by the students were scanned one by one and processed into the computer. In addition, an analysis of the word detection interview forms was made with the help of the same program. The following results were obtained: it was found that 41 students in the study group wrote 723 words, sentences and phrases in a total of 246 written documents for 6 social habitats. Two or more occurrences of a word, a sentence and a phrase are considered as one word. When these similar words and phrases are excluded, 592 different words, sentences and phrases have been identified for all social habitats. It is seen that the social habitat where the students write the most materials (140 words, sentences and phrases) is Bus Station, Public transportation, Train station and Airport. It is determined that the social habitat where the students write least materials (97 words, sentences and phrases) is University Library.
